One Life Live

FRUSTRATED IN YOUR JOB & THINKING OF A CAREER CHANGE?
HELP IS ON HAND AT ONE LIFE LIVE

3-5 MARCH 2006

A new survey commissioned by One Life Live1 suggests 86% of UK adults aged between 25 and 54 are disillusioned with their lives. One Life Live is a lifestyle event aimed at this large group of professionals who are looking for a new direction in life. One Life Live is a unique event sponsored by the one account, which launches at Olympia, London from the 3-5 March 2006 bringing together a huge range of practical ideas and solutions for starting a new business, retraining for a new career or buying into a successful franchise.

From the research conducted by One Life Live, it is evident that 58% of people are disillusioned with their careers and want to go back to college to retrain and 43% of people want to start their own business. The statistics also show that worryingly it is those in the prime earning brackets aged 34 – 44, that are most likely to want to change their career. Jeremy Clare, director of “Whatever Next…?” a company that runs workshops which help people think through their career changes says, “there is a natural desire to review one’s life as we turn each decade. As professionals move through their thirties they start to question whether the expectations and goals they had been working to in the past decade, were really their own or something derived from parental, peer-group or societal expectations. This “quarter-life” crisis inevitably leads to some confusion and often a major career rethink.”

One Life Live will appeal to a generation of individuals who want to branch out on their own and who are looking for a better work/life balance. The One Life Live Starting Afresh zone includes exhibitors such as:

- colleges for those who want to retrain, for example, University of Arts London, Middlesex School of Complementary Medicine, Teacher Development Agency, Kensington & Chelsea College, The Metropolitan Film School, Leiths School of Food & Wine and more
- franchise companies for example, Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness Clubs Franchise, Punch Taverns, Jo Jingles (franchise of music clubs for kids), Kids Klub Ltd (playgroups, nurseries) and more
- companies who will give advice about starting a business, Business Link, Career Analysts, “Whatever Next…?” , Money Sense Mentoring, the One account and more

Seminars will be taking place each day giving advice and inspiring stories to visitors to help them make a major life change. Advice clinics will also be available for one-to-one guidance. Speakers include John Lees, author of ‘How To Get The Job You Love’; Fiona Shoop, editor of Fresh Magazine speaking about using your love of writing to become a freelance journalist; Rosemary Conley, on the art of starting a successful franchise from her kitchen table and many more.

Three other exciting One Life Live zones will aim to give visitors a complete range of offerings to ensure their dreams of a life change are turned into a reality:

In The Meantime – the zone for 5 million people2 who suffer from work related stress and want a route to a more healthy and balanced life. Exhibitors include The Retreat Company, Ashwhin Retreats, “Whatever Next…?”, Ki Health International, The Coaching Academy UK, Right Key Coaching and more

Taking a Break – the zone for ‘grown-up gappers’. Visitors can expect information and advice on ‘telling your boss’, organising your mortgage, taking children out of school, ‘giving something back to the community or country’, as well as hundreds of inspiring travel ideas. Exhibitors include Raleigh International, Gap Year For Grown Ups, Intrepid Travel, VSO, MSF, Mondo Challenge, Outreach International, Dragoman, and more

Living the Dream – this One Life Live zone will include country representatives and migration support services able to offer advice and practical guidance on everything from deciding which country is right, to securing visas, finding a job, buying a home or starting a business overseas. Destinations featured will include Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada, Europe, South Africa and Asia

Whether you want to open a restaurant, work from home, pen a novel or start a business with the security of a franchise backing, go to Olympia and turn your dreams into a reality.
