With good spirit and a smile, Wexham-based Lea Parris is currently facing a huge challenge: both she and her mother were recently diagnosed with breast cancer within weeks of each other. Lea is taking the opportunity to help other patients by raising funds for Breast Cancer Care.
Lea launched her ‘Just Giving’ online fundraising page this week (www.justgiving.com/leaparris) and aims to raise £12,000 for the Breast Cancer Care charity. Lea explains: “My mum and I have faced new challenges. But we remain happy, cheerful, positive and grateful that we are receiving such good care from our medical teams.
“I am taking this opportunity to help and give something back to help other patients and families of Breast cancer by chopping off my 25" long hair and shaving my head to raise money for this worthwhile charity - I am happy to make a difference to someone else.”
With her typical spirit, Lea is looking forward to wearing different style wigs. “I've always fancied a long straight black fringed Cher style or a massive afro - you won’t recognise me. I’m going to have some fun with this...”
